However, if you are designing and building your patio from the ground up, you may want to put a little more thought into it. Why not include built-in seating in the form of back-less benches? We could even build rounded or square seating nooks—all you need is to add cushions and pillows for complete comfort.

Fire Pits

If you enjoy spending chilly fall nights by the fire or roasting marshmallows on a summer night, then you must have a fire pit on your patio. Of course, you can purchase a metal one and add it later, but your patio will look much more finished and consistent if a fire pit is built in. It can be round, rectangular, square or any other shape. We can build your fire pit with wide edges so that you have plenty of room to safely place your skewers.

Retaining and Privacy Walls

If your yard is nowhere near flat, we might need to do some excavation to create a level platform for your patio. To keep the surrounding soil at bay and reduce erosion, our Maryland patio builders can construct retaining walls. If your patio turns out to be recessed below the ground level, a retaining wall can double as a privacy wall, blocking the view from your neighbor’s property.

Hot Tub Surround

If you want to put a hot tub on your patio, you can just move it in the corner and call it a day. Or you could work with us to design a custom built-in space for your mini spa. We can build a nook for your hot tub, complete with stairs and plenty of counter space to leave your towels or put your drinks. Most hot tubs are not very attractive from the outside, so surrounding them with stone or pavers to match your patio will make them fit more organically with the rest of the design.

Water Features

Like the sound of running water? Then you might find it soothing to have a water feature on your patio. This could be a fountain, a mini waterfall or even a primitive water pump to wash your feet after a long day. Water features require some engineering and should be planned way before the construction begins.
